L'aria di Milano
A data visualization project about air quality and pollution in Milan, Italy. Data is gathered from the City of Milan Open Data portal.
This website used the City of Milan Open Data portal to get daily information about air pollution. The data was shown on a simplified map of the city, highlighting the level of each substance in the different areas of the city, and on simple candlestick-like charts, developed with D3.js, to show the daily variation of values for each substance, and the daily readings for each station.
Station-based data was also available for up to 30 days in the past.
The source API, which used to work perfectly during 2019 saw a performance degradation during 2020, and has been eventually removed in 2022. At the moment there are no free and reliable data sources regarding air pollution in the city of Milan.
